BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - As Western New Yorkers hit the road for the holiday season, they may be dealing with some snow on the roads.
There are ways to stay ahead of the weather, including some right at your fingertips.
Erie County and New York State are taking matter into their own hands when it comes to keeping residents and their families safe and informed.
Erie County officials say the ‘Ready Erie’ app is a better way to track emergencies, especially in the winter months. The app allows the community to get advanced information on what they need to know when an emergency strikes.
More than six thousand people have downloaded the app since it was unveiled last September, but the county believes that everyone needs it. It’s available in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
The State Thruway Authority also launched an app that allow travelers to access latest road conditions in real time.
