It's not too early to start thinking of summer jobs at the beach.
The state Department of Environmental Conservation is offering free lifeguard tests starting Jan. 10 for summer jobs at state facilities.
Tests will be given to candidates 16 and older and will be offered through June 7. Only those who pass the exam will be considered for employment.
Testing includes an in-water demonstration of lifesaving techniques and performance of the cardio-pulmonary resuscitation single rescuer procedure.
