WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKBW) — Rep. Tom Reed has released a statement following his collapse inside the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. Thursday afternoon. Reed was diagnosed with pneumonia following a visit to the hospital.

The full statement from Reed reads, "“Thank you to everyone for their thoughts and prayers. After my evaluation by the doctors at George Washington University Hospital, it turns out I had a previously undiagnosed case of pneumonia. I look forward to returning to work on Monday.”

Spectrum reporter Samantha-Jo Roth was tweeting images and updates from where Reed collapsed around 1:30 p.m.

Roth tweeted minutes later on Thuesday that Reed was "speaking and conscious."

Just after 2 p.m. Roth tweeted a video of Reed, awake and alert, being taken out on a stretcher by paramedics.
