New York state troopers will be out in force this holiday season.

State officials say drivers can expect to see sobriety checkpoints along with more troopers on major highways through New Year's Day. That includes unmarked patrol vehicles.

Troopers will be watching not only for impaired drivers, but distracted drivers, speeders and people not using seat belts.

State police issued more than 38,000 tickets during last year's holiday season and more than 630 people were charged with driving while intoxicated.
