New York is operating 85 free tax filing assistance sites across the state.
The sites are staffed by state tax department volunteers who guide eligible filers through tax preparation software. The sites offer morning, evening, and weekend sessions.
The free tax assistance service is available to New Yorkers and families who earned less than $62,000 in 2015. Appointments are recommended, but walk-ins are welcome.
Taxes are due April 15.
Taxpayers seeking a site can call the state tax department at 518-457-5181 or visit tax.ny.gov/fsa/.
