Another major discharge has dumped 315,000 gallons of untreated sewage into the Niagara River.
The discharge started this morning around 7 a.m. at the Niagara Falls Wastewater Treatment Plant when the system couldn't handle a mixture of rainwater and wastewater, according to an alert issued by the state.
The discharge lasted approximately four hours.
This morning's discharge is at least the fourth in the area in less than two months.
In late July, a major discharge turned the water black near the loading docks for the Maid of the Mist.
7 Eyewitness News reached out to the Maid of the Mist but said it had no comment in the matter.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is investigating.
