Think before you get into the car and drive. State and local police along with DMV Investigators will be out and about this holiday weekend, cracking down on drunk driving and underage drinking.

DMV investigators will conducting underage drinking and fake i.d. sweeps throughout the holiday weekend. State Police will be out patrolling the roads, carrying out fixed sobriety checkpoints. Police will also be on the lookout for distracted drivers, using unmarked cars to blend in with traffic.

"To help prevent tragedy and heartbreak, I urge New York to be safe, act responsibly and pay extra attention to the road and other drivers this holiday weekend," New York State Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a statement.

Last Thanksgiving weekend, State Police arrested 218 drivers for DWI, handed out 5,910 speeding tickets, and 732 tickets to distracted drivers.
