A standoff on South Park Avenue in South Buffalo involving Buffalo SWAT ended peacefully Saturday night.

The man kept police at bay for hours before they were able to take him into custody. The incident happened in the 2000 block of South Park Avenue and began just before 8pm. It ended shortly before 11pm.

Witnesses said the man, who lives in an upstairs apartment, was threatening other tenants in the building. “He hit a little girl, 17-years-old, he smacked her in the chest," claimed Abdol al Mathil. “Her boyfriend, he came to make sure she was okay. That's when her mother comes upstairs and said what's going on? That’s when he went into his apartment and never came out.”

Police have not yet identified the suspect. He was taken to ECMC for evaluation.
