Staffers face discipline following prison break

More workers at the Clinton Correctional Facility are either leaving, or are in trouble following that brazen prison break last year.

State officials say nine employees resigned or retired in lieu of other discipline after North Tonawanda native Richard Matt and his cohort David Sweat escaped last June.

Both men were convicted of murder.

Officials say nine other staff members agreed to discipline ranging from temporary suspensions to fines and lost benefits.

After a three-week manhunt, Matt was shot dead.

Sweat was shot and captured two days later.
