Staff Sergeant Billy Wilson remembered five years after he was Killed In Action

Staff Sergeant William R. "Billy" Wilson III graduated from Williamsville North High School in 2005 and joined the Army.

Billy quickly rose to the his position as Staff Sergeant in the United Sates Army and was chosen as a Squad Leader in his Unit when he served in Afghanistan.

Unfortunately, Billy was Killed In Action while serving in Afghanistan on March 26, 2012. On Sunday, the five year anniversary of his death, those who loved and respected him honored him at his memorial site by releasing balloons into the air.

The community showed their appreciation and admiration for Billy by renaming the I-990 as well as a park in Amherst after him. There is also a memorial foundation in his honor. Now, a playground is also being built as a tribute to him.
