Spirit Airlines claims that a labor dispute with some of its pilots is responsible for causing the cancellation and delay of hundreds of flights over the past week. Some of those cancellations sparked a brawl at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport in Florida.
The effects of the dispute are also being felt in Niagara Falls by passengers and tourism officials.
Two Myrtle Beach flights were canceled at the Niagara Falls International Airport. The NFTA released the following statement about the situation:
“We are monitoring the situation with Spirit Airlines carefully, and they are keeping us informed regarding irregular operations. At this time the 6:20 pm flight from Niagara Falls to Orlando, Florida is scheduled to operate as planned.” Helen Tederous, NFTA spokesperson.
