The SPCA Serving Erie County welcomed a new executive director on Monday. Gary Willoughby is the successor of Barbara Carr, who led the SPCA for more than 20 years.

"He is genuine. He is kind," said Sara Dayton the boar president. "He has great ideas. He did a lot at the two shelters that he was at for a pretty short period of time."

Willoughby is no stranger when it comes to caring for animals. He developed a Meals on Wheels type of program for animals in Florida and led the Toledo Area Humane Society.

"The stars really aligned for me to have an opportunity to oversee another capital campaign, the finishing off of one and working on a facility in my wife's home area," said Willoughby.

Willoughby looks forward to helping the SPCA finish their capital campaign which is raising funds for the construction of their new facility in West Seneca.
