A Western New York craft beer brewery is a finalist in the state's inaugural craft beer challenge.

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Monday that Southern Tier Brewing Company was one of five New York beer manufacturers to receive the most votes in a recent online competition.

Southern Tier Brewing Company is based in Lakewood, N.Y. in Chautauqua County.

The other finalists include Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown, Genesee Brewing of Rochester, Prison City Pub and Brewery in Auburn, and the Roscoe NY Beer Co. in Sullivan County.

There are 321 total microbreweries, farm breweries and restaurant breweries in New York State.

The five finalists were selected from the more than 170 breweries that signed up to participate in the Taste NY Craft Beer Challenge.

The finalists are invited to New York City for a blind tasting hosted by Governor Cuomo.

Former Buffalo Bill and Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas will be one of the guest judges.
