Advocates will meet later this week to discuss whether there is a constitutional answer to Albany's long-running ethical problems.

More than 30 state lawmakers have resigned facing criminal or ethical violations since 2000.

Advocates on Friday will hold a forum at Albany Law School on whether changes to the state constitution could strengthen ethical guidelines. Former state comptroller H. Carl McCall and Richard Briffault of Columbia Law School are scheduled to speak.

Voters in November 2017 will get a chance to weigh in on a statewide referendum on whether or not to call a constitutional convention.
