Erie County Sheriff's Office says its snowmobile unit issued more than two dozen tickets during its first extended patrol of the season.

According to the Sheriff's Office, most of the 25 tickets were issued for registration and insurance violations.

Officials also investigated a crash into a utility pole in the Village of Springville. No injuries or machine damage was reported and the operator did not receive a ticket.

The unit has three snowmobiles that patrol hundreds of miles of open snowmobile trails throughout Erie County when weather conditions allow.

Snowmobilers should check with snowmobile clubs for information about trail conditions, and should visit the New York State Parks website for general rider information.
