Emergency management workers in Chautauqua County are warning folks in Silver Creek, they may have to evacuate because of flooding from ice jams.
An ice jam occurred early Thursday morning.
The ice jam is located off Central Avenue and Howard Street. This is the main area of concern.
At one point Walnut Creek jumped several feet but after a couple well-placed hits by an excavator, the ice jam has broken loose and is flowing out into Lake Erie.
No evacuation order has been issued. Crews are setting up a command post to determine the best action plan for folks living nearby the creek.
