Children in Lockport had the opportunity to shop with a cop Saturday to get gifts for themselves and their families.
The 5th Annual Shop with a Cop event pairs up children with deputies from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office to travel to Walmart in a patrol car for some holiday shopping. The children were also treated to lunch provided by Walmart.
"This annual event is all about the children and building a positive relationship with both them and their families," said Sheriff James Voutour. "The deputies who participated in this event volunteer their time and look forward to it every year. We are grateful for the staff at the Lockport Walmart and the continuous support they provide to make this event a success."
A community grant from the Walmart foundation funded the gift cards that allowed the children to shop.
