A young girl in the Town of Niagara is now home safe, after she ran away from home Wednesday night.

Police say this all happened because the seven-year-old's mother grounded her.

The Town of Niagara Police Department tells 7 Eyewitness News the girl slipped out of her home around 8:45, without her mother noticing.

Because of the stormy weather, police called in several other departments, including the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, Town of Niagara Fire Department and Mercy EMS to help in the search.

They spotted her near another home in the neighborhood around 11:00, and returned her home.

The police chief says Mercy Flight medics cleared her to return home, and that he had a long chat with the girl and her parents about the incident.
