A tourist, visiting from Pakistan, lost his life Monday following a crash on the I-290 westbound.

First responders were called to the scene near Colvin Boulevard in the Town of Tonawanda early Monday morning.

Investigators say 40-year-old Hamad Mir lost control of his vehicle and hit a guardrail on the right side of the roadway.  Mr. Mir was pinned behind the steering wheel of the vehicle and was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say three children who were in the car were taken to Oishei Children's Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  An elderly woman was admitted to Buffalo General Hospital for pain in her upper body.  An additional adult female passenger wasn't hurt.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
