Senator Chuck Schumer is urging the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to release a Towne Gardens Housing Complex re-inspection report that took place in September.

The 360-unit located off of Clinton Street failed a HUD inspection in June, according to Schumer. Officials found more than 100 serious health and safety violations.

Officials recently reinspected the complex on September 13th. Schumer said that the Towne Gardens has been plagued by health and safety deficiencies and that residents have 'suffered tremendously.'

"Towne Gardens has been in a state of disrepair for far too many years now including leaky ceilings, exposed electrical wires, broken smoke detectors and much more," said Senator Schumer.

The housing complex has been operating under new management lately. Schumer wants current management to take action and "provide safe and sanitary living conditions for residents."
