Deputies say an 18-year-old girl was behind the wheel of one of the vehicles in a deadly crash in Colden that claimed the life of a 28-year-old man.

Thursday, the Erie County Sheriff's Office announced Mercedes Castillo of Holland has been charged with a felony count of second degree criminally negligent homicide in the April 12th crash on Center Road that claimed the life of Chauncy Kloiber of Wales.

According to prosecutors, Castillo was racing a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Kody Schroeder of Holland when Schroeder rear-ended her vehicle. Schroeder's vehicle then went into a ditch.
