Schumer pushes for law to make sexual predator information available to children's organization

U.S. Senator Charles Schumer has introduced legislation that would make it easier for nonprofits and other children's organizations to screen prospective employees.

"The law prohibits these nonprofit groups from checking the FBI's sexual predator list," said Senator Schumer.

Schumer wants to make the national sexual predator list available to these organizations.

The list is currently only available to law enforcement, Schumer said. Nonprofits have to pay private investigators to do background checks out-of-pocket.

Schumer says he has bipartisan support and expects the legislation to pass quickly and without issue.
