Schoolhouse Democrats are calling out Representative Chris Collins and urging him to reject Betsy DeVos for Secretary of Education.
The group, which is dedicated to protecting public education, calls DeVos a lobbyist, not an educator.
"She is unqualified to be Secretary of Education and she has spent millions of dollars to destroy public education by funding voucher initiatives and irresponsible charter school growth and oversight," said the Schoolhouse Democrats. "Betsy DeVos' single-minded aim is to destroy public education and she must be stopped from becoming Secretary of Education."
DeVos is President-elect Donald Trump's pick for the position.
The Schoolhouse Democrats are asking Collins to stand up for public education by denying DeVos this secretary position.
"Public schools are the souls of our communities, and any attempt to destroy public schools is an attack on our way of life."
