The Salvation Army of Buffalo held a Mother's Day Event on Friday at its downtown location. They pampered mothers over the age of 50.

Vendors volunteered their time to help make about 60 mothers feel extra special with facials, manicures, and even makeovers.

"It's nice to get pampered once in a while," 86 year-old Larusha Blakely said.

Many of the ladies live in retirement facilities, don't have family in Buffalo, and rarely have the opportunity to leave their homes.

"This gives them the opportunity to celebrate Mother's Day and know that some people care about them,"  Salvation Army of Buffalo Golden Age Center Director, Lisa Holmes said.

Not only did these seniors enjoy their spa like treatment, but it gave them a chance to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. Seniors told 7 Eyewitness News, what made them feel extra special is knowing people care enough to make them feel loved.

Happy Mother's Day!
