A 13-year-old girl is back in her mother's custody after police say she ran away during an argument at an Orchard Park store on Thursday.

Officers with the Orchard Park Police Department were called to the Quaker Crossing shopping plaza on Amelia Drive after reports the teen had run away from her mother after an argument. The mother reported she may have ran off to a wooded area behind the shopping plaza.

Officers called in New York State Park Rangers, the Windom Fire Company, and the Erie County Sheriff Office's canine division to organize a search. The teen, from West Seneca, was found several hours later by a firefighter. Police say she was hiding in the women's bathroom in Target, located in the same shopping plaza.

The search team returned the girl to her mother.
