Ronald McDonald Charities of Western New York is holding a photo contest to help support families with children in medical crisis.
The fundraiser is called "Rock Your Socks." Participants can buy a pair of striped socks for $5, then take a selfie in their socks. Then, participants upload the photo to the Ronald McDonald House website. The Ronald McDonald House is also encouraging people to upload their pictures to social media using the hashtag #RockYourSocksBuffalo.
Ronald McDonald House will post the photos to its Facebook page, and users can vote on their favorites. A panel of judges will pick a winner from the 10 most popular photos. The winner will receive $500.
Participants can upload pictures through March 14th, and voting runs through March 28th.
Ronald McDonald House helps families whose children are going through treatment at local hospitals. In 2016, it served about 600 families.
