Cleanup efforts at the site of a train derailment in the Town of Ripley continued into the overnight hours Thursday.
Hazmat workers from Specialized Professional Services worked to offload propane gas from overturned rail cars. The propane gas was pumped into tractor trailer tanker trucks and hauled off site.
The propane remnants were ignited and a large flame shot into the sky for the better part of an hour.
Residents around the site have not been allowed in their homes since the derailment Tuesday night. They received the green light to finally head home at 5 a.m. Thursday morning.
