It was an event for the record books in Delaware Park on Thursday. A record-breaking crowd of 14,145 runners and walkers competed in the 38th annual J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge. 391 Western New York companies were represented in the 3.5 mile road race.
Alex Simon, representing Erie County Medical Center, was the men's first place finisher with a time of 18:35 (5:18 pace). Nick Masiello from Wegmans was second and Jay List of Diamond Cutter WNY was third.
Kim Vona of Batavia Downs was the first place women's finisher with a time of 20:22 (5:49 pace) Kelsey Gratien of Unvera Health was the runner up. Mary Giza from Lancaster High School was third.
A donation was made by J.P. Morgan in honor of the Corporate Challenge participants to the Buffalo Olmsted Parks Conversancy.
