The Soccer for Success program in the City of Buffalo has been awarded $650,000 by the Ralph C. Wilson foundation.

The program is now in its sixth year. It's an after school soccer program that is free to participants. The program was originally only available at 12 City sites, but with the new grant money, will be able to expand to 20 locations and include more children.

Organizers say it's not only a great program for kids physically but mentally, and teaches things like discipline, working together and respect.

"They have relationships with the coach and mentors," said parent Chermeka Darby. "They are learning about nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices."
