Rainy days like the one Western New York experienced Wednesday can mean plumbing issues for homeowners.
7 Eyewitness News spent the evening with Cellino Plumbing. The company said they were very busy throughout the day as a result of the heavy rain.
"A lot of the sewer lines here are clay tile. Over the years they tend to shift and they really just can't hold the capacity of the water," said Luke Cellino.
7 Eyewitness News was there as Cellino responded to a call at a Cheektowaga home. Luckily for homeowner Anthony Maggiore, the plumbing issue wasn't too severe.
Cellino says it's important to routinely check your sewer and make sure things are working properly. If a sump-pump needs to be replaced a homeowner is looking at a price of around $700. If the entire sewer needs replaced, the price is around $3,000.
If you do experience flooding or a back-up, you should check with your neighbors to see if they are having the same issue. If they are, it might be a city or town line issue. In that case, you'll want to call officials right away.
