Rain barrels and composting bins 50% off

You can get a rain barrel or compost bin 50% off the regular price, thanks to Erie County.

The county is partnering with the WNY Stormwater Coalition and the City of Buffalo to offer the barrels and bins to households to help people reduce their environmental footprint.

Rain barrels help reduce storm water runoff that doesn't soak into the ground.  The rain gathered can be used for watering gardens, plants or washing cars.  Composting bins take yard trimmings and food waste and return them to the soil.  The idea is to enrich the soil and help simulate plant growth.

If you'd like to learn more about buying a rain barrel or composting bin click here.  The county says quantities are limited, and the deadline to order is May 25th.  Bins and barrels can be picked up June 7th.
