NY DEC to hold public hearings on controversial Northern Access Pipeline.
Landowners and concerned citizens will be commenting in opposition to National Fuel's proposed Northern Access Pipeline at three Western New York public hearings this week.
Hearings on the remaining water crossing and air permits will be held tonight at 6pm at St. Bonaventure University, Doyle Hall, Wednesday at Iroquois High School in Elma, and Thursday at Niagara County Community College, room E-140, in Sanborn.
The Northern Access Pipeline is proposed to run 97 miles from McKean County, Pennsylvania through Cattaraugus, Allegany, and Erie Counties.
The pipeline will transport gas obtained from Pennsylvania's Marcellus Shale using the controversial method of hydraulic fracturing, or "fracking".
