BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Utility companies across the state are anticipating unprecedented temperatures this weekend.

They are asking you to help by limiting your energy usage between the peak hours of 3-7p.m.

There are a few ways to do this:

  • Turn up your thermostat a few degrees when you’ll be out of the house
  • Use large appliances during non-peak hours
  • Reduce the use of window air conditioners by pre-cooling your home
  • Use a fan to help spread cool air around

These are a few things that can keep your energy bill down while keeping your home cool and not overworking the power grid.

Companies say they plan to take bodies off planned maintenance to have the extra resources in case of outages or repair needs.
