A new bill could help remedy parking concerns in Buffalo's Fruit Belt neighborhood.

The proposed law would create a pilot residential parking system on 12 streets around the Buffalo General Medical Park. According to the bill, the lack of parking in that area has caused traffic hazards, congestion, and air and noise pollution.

The bill does provide for a fee to be paid. There's no word how much that fee would be.

The proposal also provides for public parking near businesses, and that 20% of available parking be made short-term public parking, limited to 90 minutes.

The streets where permits would be allowed are as follows:

  • Maple Street, from BFNC Drive to North Street;
  • Mulberry Street, from BFNC Drive to North Street;
  • Locust Street, from BFNC Drive to North Street;
  • Lemon Street, from BFNC Drive to North Street;
  • Orange Street, from BFNC Drive to North Street;
  • Peach Street, from BFNC Drive to North Street;
  • Grape Street, from BFNC Drive to North Street;
  • Rose Street, from BFNC Drive to North Street;
  • High Street, from Michigan Avenue to Rose Street;
  • Carlton Street, from Maple Street to Rose Street;
  • Virginia Street, from Maple Street to BFNC Drive;
