Power outage reported at UB South

University at Buffalo Police tell 7 Eyewitness News the power is back on at UB South after a power outage hit campus.

Police say the power was out for a few hours, and came back on shortly before 9:00 p.m. Sunday. It is unclear why the power went out.

Below is the message that was posted to the University's website about the outage:

 

South Campus power outage

On Sunday, Nov. 6, at approximately 6:50 p.m., a power outage affecting all of UB’s South campus was reported. UB’s Facilities Department is working to restore power. Emergency lighting has been activated and emergency phone service is operational. UB Campus Living is assisting residents in Goodyear and Clement halls. UB Police is actively patrolling darkened areas of the campus.

The Abbott Health Sciences Library is closed.

Network, telephone and other communications services are currently unavailable for the South Campus due to a power outage. Technical staff are aware of the problem and are working on a resolution.

The following services are affected:

- Wired Network Access

- Wi-Fi Network Access

-- UB Wireless

-- UB Secure

-- UB Guest

-- eduroam

-- UB Connect

- VoIP Telephones

-- Voicemail (Unity)

-- Call delivery and telephone functionality (CallManager)

Technical staff are aware of the problem and working on resolving the outage or disruption.
