Possible Metro expansion on the horizon for Buffalo

The Greater Buffalo Niagara Regional Transportation Council (GBNRTC) held a public meeting on Tuesday to show the public their plan for three new metro stations.

Two of them would be in Amherst and another near Canal Side in Buffalo.

The meeting was simply an opportunity to show the public what they have planned. It will still be years until these plans create new stations.

The prospect of these new stations does excite local businesses, however, especially Duffs restaurant on Sheridan in Amherst.

"Obviously getting people another mode of transportation to get people to moe back and forth gives us the potential for more business" Duffs manager Josh Brown said.

The GBNRTC will hold another session to educate the public tomorrow, with a reveal of the findings anticipated in December or January. There is still no timetable on when building could begin.

A community meeting will be hosted at the Weinberg Campus from 6 to 8 p.m. on the second floor lounge of the Meadows Apartments, located at 2650 N. Forest Road, Amherst.
