Police return to Legends Park area, collect evidence

Posted

The Niagara Falls Police Department sent investigators back to the area around Legends Park on Wednesday night, following an explosion there on Tuesday.

Investigators collected what appeared to be "possible remnants" from the explosion. That evidence was found behind the Niagara Gospel Rescue Mission on Portage Road. A bomb squad examined the remnants and they were added to evidence already collected from the scene.

The evidence recovered on Wednesday night was not an explosive device. Investigators maintain Legends Park and the surrounding area are "safe and secure," including Abate Elementary School. The investigation into what caused the explosion is ongoing.
