Police: Murder suspect shot man in the head at close range

A 26-year-old Niagara Falls man is facing murder charges accused of killing a man Saturday morning.

Police filed charges against Jamell Parker Monday for the deadly shooting on 19th Street. 

Detectives say Parker shot 36-year-old Marlowe Smith in the head at close range. The suspect reportedly took off running after the shooting but was caught in an alley off Pine Avenue, between 24th and 25th Street.

Parker is charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree.
