Governor Cuomo has announced a crackdown on impaired or distracted driving and underage drinking this Thanksgiving week.
Cuomo made the announcement in an effort to deter unsafe driving behaviors.
In addition, State investigators from the Department of Motor Vehicles will conduct underage drinking and fake ID sweeps, during what many consider one of the most popular weeks for young people to go to bars.
The Thanksgiving traffic enforcement will take place Wednesday, November 23 through Sunday, November 27.
During the 2015 Thanksgiving holiday crackdown, troopers arrested 218 drivers for DWI, issued 5,910 speeding tickets, 732 tickets for distracted driving, and 204 tickets for the move over law. Thirty-one counties and 128 local law enforcement agencies participated in last year's Thanksgiving crackdown.
