City of Batavia Police Department responded to a report of a body floating in the water in Dewitt Park just before 9:00 a.m. Monday morning.
Police say when they arrived they found the body partially submerged in the south east portion of the Sand Wash in the park.
Genesee County Coroner pronounced the time of death at 10:30 a.m.
About 45 minutes later, Batavia Fire Department and Police Department Detectives say they performed a water recovery of an unidentified male. The man was taken to the Erie County Medical Examiner's Office for autopsy.
