Jamestown police said when they checked on a house on McKinley avenue as part of a routine parole visit, they found a man smoking marijuana inside.
The man - who turned out to be 31 year old Jamal Smith, of Rochester - tried to give police a fake name.
But it was while transporting Smith to the city jail that officers say they made a much bigger discovery. During the trip, police say Smith had taken 95 bags of heroin out of his pants, and tried to hide them in the back seat.
Officers charged Smith with false personation, unlicensed possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with physical evidence.
He is being held in the city jail, waiting for his arraignment.
