Police find drunk man trying to kick in neighbors door twice

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WKBW) - Orchard Park police responded to an Abbott Road address for a report of someone's drunk neighbor trying to kick in the door to their apartment and enter at 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Police say they found 28-year-old Matthew Helmbrecht of Buffalo visibly intoxicated and disorderly.

Initially, there were no charges against Helmbrecht. Instead, officers told him to go to bed and stay away from the neighbors, according to the report.

At 4 a.m. police received another call about Helmbrecht kicking their door and screaming obscenities. Officers forcibly took him into custody because he was uncooperative.

He's charged with criminal mischief for damage to the door, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.

Following arraignment, bail was set at $500 cash and $1,000 bond. Helmbrecht returns to OP court on February 8th.

There are no injuries to the officers or the neighbors to report.
