Police find drugs in home with small child

A Jamestown man was arrested after a raid at a home on Thayer Street in which crack cocaine was found.

The Jamestown Metro Drug Task Force and a Community Narcotics Enforcement Team from the New York State Police executed a narcotics raid at 40 Thayer Street in Jamestown at 1:50 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Inside, officers say they found 11 grams of crack cocaine. 

James Butts, 22, was in the home during the raid, along with an 18-year-old woman and a small child. Butts is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, criminal using drug paraphernalia, and endangering the welfare of a child. The woman, who has not been identified, was also charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Both were taken to city lockup pending arraignment. Police have not released the status of the child found in the home.
