The treasurer of a Parent Teacher Organization in Genesee County is accused of stealing more than $40,000 from the organization.

Investigators say 48-year-old Cynthia Eggleston wrote checks to herself and deposited the money in her personal bank account. She then allegedly used the money for her own financial needs.

From September 2013 until this month, investigators say Eggleston stole $40,406.10 from the Parent Teacher Organization at Pavilion Central School.

She has been relieved of her duties as treasurer after being arrested Tuesday afternoon and charged with third degree grand larceny, a Class D felony.
