A woman was arrested for DWI Monday afternoon after leaving an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

Police were called after Josephine Pierce, 24, of Perrsyburg left the meeting in Hamburg, where she was allegedly highly intoxicated.

Officers stopped Pierce on Bussendorfer Road in Orchard Park around 1:30 p.m. and placed her under arrest after she reportedly failed field sobriety tests. Police say she had an open container in her vehicle.

At the station, police say she refused to take a breath test and became uncooperative, throwing a department phone while trying to make a phone call.

Pierce is charged with DWI and fourth degree criminal mischief. She’s being held pending arraignment.
