A federal grand jury indicted two Western New Yorkers on conspiracy to possess and intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine.

Authorities say 40 year-old Tyrone Pennick of Amherst and 30 year-old Geneva Smith of Buffalo were under surveillance. Investigators from the Erie County Sheriff Office pulled over Smith back in November, when Authorities say she began to drive erratically after noticing the surveillance vehicle. Police detained Smith, and removed what they say appeared to be two containers of cocaine from her tote bag.

Investigators then executed a search warrant at Pennick's house, where according to authorities, a vacuum sealed bag containing $49,990 in U.S. currency concealed in the dishwasher and a plastic bag containing suspected cocaine weighing approximately one ounce concealed in a box of oatmeal was recovered.

Pennick has been charged with a separate federal indictment for his role as the leader in a large scale cocaine trafficking organization.

If convicted, Kennedy and Pennick could receive a maximum prison sentence of up to 40 years.
