Two teenagers are facing felony burglary charges after a series of suspicious incidents including the theft of a dog from an animal shelter.

The Genesee County Sheriff's Office said they received two calls from the Town of Le Roy around 10:30 p.m. Monday night -- one for suspicious activity at a Kwik Fill on Route 5, and another for a car accident on Keeney Road.

Investigators realized the calls were connected because they involved the same two suspects, 18-year-old Haleigh Ogden and 18-year-old Giancarlo Miranda.

Deputies say Ogden and Miranda took off on foot from the scene of the car accident, through a field and into woods.

The pair had a pit bull with them, which deputies say had been stolen from the Genesee County Animal Shelter the previous week.

Both Ogden and Miranda were arrested and charged with Burglary in the 3rd Degree in connection to the stolen dog.

The were remanded to the Genesee County Jail on $15,000 bail.

The dog was returned to the animal shelter and is doing fine.
