A teacher at Notre Dame Academy in Buffalo has pleaded guilty to two counts of third degree attempted criminal sexual act involving a former student.
Mary Rose Brady admitted she twice engaged in sexual contact with a student in March 2009 and June 2009. The student was 16-years-old at the time and involved oral sexual conduct.
School officials say the alleged incidents did not take place while the student was at Notre Dame Academy.
A letter was sent home to parents after school officials learned of Brady’s indictment, which is the first time school officials say they learned of the accusations against her.
Brady was placed on unpaid leave from her teaching position. As part of her guilty plea, she was ordered to surrender her teaching certification.
Brady will also be required to register as a sex offender.
She will be sentenced in July and could be sentenced to up to two years in prison, one year for each count she pleaded guilty to.
