A drunk driver nearly caused an accident involving two trains after leaving his vehicle with an intoxicated woman inside on train tracks, according to deputies in Wyoming County.

The sheriff’s office was called to Fuller Road in Gainesville on Thursday on reports of a suspicious person. Deputies found 32-year-old James Ebner of Silber Springs and say he was intoxicated. They decided to give him a ride home.

But while driving him to his house, deputies spotted his vehicle, which was stuck on the railroad tracks on Fuller Road. Ebner had allegedly left it there with a woman deputies say was drunk inside.

Deputies contacted the railroad company, which stopped two trains that were minutes away from hitting the vehicle.

Ebner was put through field sobriety tests, which deputies say he failed. He reportedly had a BAC of .19 percent.

Ebner was arrested and charged with aggravated DWI, DWI and failure to keep right.

After his vehicle was removed from the tracks, the trains were able to continue on their way.
