A Jamestown man is accused of killing his wife and stepson inside their Barrows Street home Tuesday morning.
Allen Witruke, 51, is facing two counts of second degree murder. He was taken into custody in Olean Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly fled Jamestown following the murders.
Police say Witruke killed his wife, 52-year-old Catherine, and stepson, 34-year-old Eric Washburn inside the home he shared with the victims. One victim was beaten and both were stabbed multiple times. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Witruke is currently being held pending arraignment.
Neighbors who live on the street told 7 Eyewitness News they are relieved the suspect is in custody, but are still upset over the situation.
"It's sad obviously," said Ben Humphreys. "It's something you hear about but don't expect to be so close to you."
